Welcome To Pete's Scout II Emporium...

The IHC pages here are dedicated to the everlasting patience and expertise of John Hofstetter, John Landry, Tom Mandera, Bill Spanburgh, Bill Thebert, and, of course, all of the folks on the IHC Digest that have put up with me for the past few years, and to my son David who encourages me by telling me I "... can do it!"! ;-> (Mainly folks that are cornerstones of the IHC Digest and/or personal friends & heroes of mine... none of whom ever "pointed and laughed" at my trials and tribulations on this project, no matter how 'anal retentive' I was {or am!}!)

First things first... I suppose this really isn't an "emporium" in the dictionary sense. I don't sell goods, etc. I just thought it was a neat word!

Below, on this page, are some snapshots of my 1977 International Harvester Scout. It's a Scout II, V8 304, 4WD, a/t, p/s/, a/c.

I can't describe how much fun it is to work on this beast! Unlike the majority of today's "computer designed" cars (shudder!), this "SUV" (or is it a "UTE"?! %^} ) has all kinds of room to work on it under the hood. As a friend says, "There's enough room to swing a dead cat..."! It's kind of like that old bumper sticker about fishing. In this case, it'd go something like this: "A Bad Day Working On The International Is Better Than A Good Day At Work!"

While it's true that finding parts for an International can be slightly challenging at times, once you get "tuned in" to the IH experience, you'll learn where the local boneyards are that can help you, which local parts store can help, and where you can mail-order anything from a fender emblem to a motor or transmission at a competitive (or better!) price than what may be locally available. Look at Lightline of Louisiana or Anything Scout , among others. For an exhaustive list of International Harvester Company after market and original (new & used) parts, be sure to visit: www.binderbulletin.org . For MANY things, NAPA does an above average job of stocking / listing parts.

Oh yes! Before I go too far: If you have any comments or suggestions about this page, please feel free to e-mail me with any ideas or improvements for this page - click here.

Wow! Over 9000 visitors (as of 12/11/04!) in nearly five years ('99) since this page was first uploaded! That averages nearly 5 (ok, 4.8 or so!) people per day, seven days a week. I'm impressed! My sincere thanks for visiting, and please come back soon! I plan on making some neat changes soon. Until then, if you want to see other IHC (aka "Binder") web pages, why not take a ride on the IHC WebRing (above!)? There are some pretty cool sites on the ring. And don't forget to check out my PostNuke pages. Click here to go to www.pferris.com/scout now!
